The University of Otago offers a range of scholarships to undergraduate and postgraduate international students.
There are two available options for all international students and three other ones -in collaboration with other institutions- dedicated to India, US and Europe/US respectively.

Are you interested in applying for a Master’s scholarship? The University of Otago through The Business School offers scholarships for Master’s degrees.
1. Master of Finance scholarship (MFinc)
The Otago Business School’s Department of Accountancy & Finance offer the Master of Finance degree for students who wish to gain advanced financial skills and knowledge, while also enhancing their career prospects.
It is designed for people seeking a career in the finance industry or for financial specialists in non-financial firms.
1.1 How much is available and how to be eligible for the Otago scholarship for Finance?
There are ten Otago scholarships of NZ$10,000 for international students starting the MFinc in the first semester (February), 2020. Just take into account that there are not deferrals allowed and it is awarded on academic merit, as decided by the Department of Accountancy and Finance, University of Otago.
International students with an undergraduate degree in either Finance, Maths, Engineering, Physics or Economics, with grades equivalent to a NZ B+ average (GPA 3/4), and who meet the University of Otago’s English Language requirements (IELTS – Score of 6.5 in the academic module with no individual band below 6.0) can apply for this scholarship.
To be eligible to be awarded the scholarship, you must have an unconditional offer (including meeting English language requirements) by 5pm, 31 October 2019 (NZ time). You may be offered the scholarship before 31 October, but if you have not met their conditions by this date, the scholarship offer will be withdrawn.
Note: Current international students at the University of Otago are eligible to apply and students who have been awarded another University of Otago scholarship are not eligible to be awarded this scholarship.

There is no separate application process for this scholarship. Just make sure to upload the next documents for your application (or ask to your education expert if you have any doubt):

- A cover letter outlining why you wish to study the MFinc at the University of Otago and why they you are an excellent candidate for this programme.
You will be advised of the outcome of the scholarship if/when an offer letter is issued.
2. Master of Professional Accounting scholarship (MProfAcct)
The Otago Business School’s Master of Professional Accounting (MProfAcct) provides an opportunity for graduates with little or no experience or qualifications in accounting to pursue professional accreditation through an intensive course of study and applied research over a period of 18 months.
The MProfAcct enables graduates with little or no experience or qualifications in accounting to work towards professional accreditation through an intensive course of study and applied research.
2.1 How much is available and how to be eligible for the Otago scholarship for Accounting?

3. New Zealand Excellence Awards scholarship (NZEA)
In collaboration with Education New Zealand, the University of Otago is currently offering the New Zealand Excellence Awards (NZEA) for 2019/2020 for undergraduate students from India.
3.1 How much is available and how to be eligible for NZEA?
There are two NZEA scholarships available, valued at NZ$10,000, for undergraduate study at the University of Otago. These scholarships are for study commencing in the second semester 2019 (July), or the first semester 2020 (February) for programmes with no second semester intake.
Students from India need to hold a minimum equivalent GPA of B+ in their most recent or highest tertiary qualification in order to apply for this scholarship.
To be eligible for the scholarship, you must be at least 18 years at the time of application, hold a current citizenship of India and have evidence of an offer (unconditional or conditional) of place at the University of Otago for an eligible undergraduate programme.
The eligible Bachelor’s degrees are Commerce, Science, Applied Science, Arts, Arts and Science, Health Sciences, Music, Theology, Dental Surgery, Medical Laboratory Science, Medicine, Surgery, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Dental of Technology, Oral Health, Surveying, Performing Arts, Social Work, Teaching or Laws.

4. Generation Study Abroad Excellence and Travel Awards
Education New Zealand and New Zealand tertiary institutions are supporting Generation Study Abroad students with excellence and travel awards.
4.1 How much is available and how to be eligible for ENZTA and NZEA?
There are two scholarships available, Education New Zealand Study Abroad Travel Awards (ENZTA) and Generation Study Abroad New Zealand Universities Excellence Awards (NZUEA) which offer US$2,000 to help students fund their flight to New Zealand and $500 to students studying for a semester at the University of Otago.
Students must be at least 18 years at the time of application, be a US Citizen or hold US Resident status, be currently enrolled at a tertiary institution in the United States of America, be enrolled at The University of Otago through a study abroad or exchange programme and hold a minimum equivalent GPA of 3.0 in tertiary studies to date (4.0 scale) in order to apply for these scholarships.

It is necessary to create an account in order to register and complete the application. Once it has been created and you have applied for the scholarship, you can expect all correspondence regarding your application to come from admin@communityforce.com
As part of the application process you’ll send an online request to a Professor (or Assistant Professor) at your US home institution for a Letter of recommendation. You’ll also need to request (online) your US home institution Study Abroad Office or equivalent to complete an Endorsement form.
Make sure to upload your CV, a copy of the photo ID page of your passport, a copy for US resident visa (for non-us citizens only) for your application (or ask to your education expert if you have any doubt).
5. GoOverseas scholarships
GoOverseas offers two major scholarships for Study Abroad students from the USA and Europe to study at The University of Otago
5.1 How much is available and how to be eligible for the GoOverseas scholarship?
The value of the scholarship depends of the territory, for undergraduate students from the USA it is US$15,000 and from Europe €12,500.
In addition, the University of Otago offers three scholarships of NZ$1,000 for Study Abroad students from the USA and Europe (Undergraduates only).
5.2 How to apply
You will need to apply directly to the program you select and you must meet their requirements to be considered for the scholarship.
Make sure to upload a 300-word short essay and creative New Zealand-themed photo (or ask to your education expert if you have any doubt).
Applications open in late 2019.
