For Semester 1, 2020 only, UTAS is offering accommodation bursaries to eligible international students at their Launceston campus.
How much is available?
50 percent (half price) accommodation bursaries to eligible international Master of Social Work Qualifying (R70) students.
How to apply?
You will be eligible to apply for the Accommodation Bursary once you have accepted the Letter of Offer, paid the course acceptance fee and applied for University accommodation.
You will have to submit a 200 word personal statement -Do not forget that your education expert can give you a leg!- and email it to social.science@utas.edu.au outlining the eligibility criteria and including proof of community contributions made, this may include volunteer work, paid work or commitment to improvement of their community. The Letter of Offer and evidence of payment of the acceptance fee should be attached as supporting documentation to the application.
To be eligible, you must
- be classified as an International Student as defined under the rules of the University of Tasmania.
- have received an offer to study the full-time eligible course at the University of Tasmania’s Launceston campus.
- be commencing the first year of their degree in Semester 1, 2020
- pay the acceptance fee outlined in their Letter of Offer within two weeks (14 business days) and provide evidence of payment as set out in the Letter of Offer.
- apply for University accommodation (single accommodation only).
- meet volunteer work criteria – showing significant contribution to a community driven cause of their choosing, assessed at the discretion of the discipline head, Social Work. Examples could include, volunteer work, community-based work (nursing, emergency related fields, crisis assistance, animal welfare) community contribution or projects, multiple fund-raising projects.
What does the bursary include?
If successful, you will receive
- Singles only university accommodation at either Kerslake Hall, Leprena or Investigator Hall in Launceston.
- A fifty percent discount on the advertised weekly singles accommodation rate for a minimum of 42 weeks (the first academic year) and up to 24 months (the duration of the course).
Spaces are limited! Students are encouraged to accept the Master of Social Work (Qualifying) Semester 1 offer and apply for their accommodation and bursary as soon as possible to avoid missing out on this amazing opportunity!
